In this chapter, Allah addresses both humans and Jinn, teaching them to realize His mercy and countless blessings on them and also pointing out that they are the only creatures with freedom of will and accountability before God. This chapter also points out that Mohamed’s PBUH prophethood is meant for both humans and Jinn.
In Summary:
Allah is the most Merciful
It is Allah Who created Human
He Who made the laws to regulate Humans life
All that exists will perish except Allah.
No one can run away from the jurisdiction of Allah.
As in Humans, among the Jinn exists who have believed in God’s Prophets and the divine books,
and others unbelievers and rebellious e.g. of Jinn is Satan.
With the name of Allah the Gracious the Merciful.
1-The Merciful. ( It’s a key attribute of Allah, as The Most Merciful, that It is a verse by itself.
The root word in Arabic is “RHM means The Womb” which is the environment that protects and nourishes the child. It is a metaphor for Allah’s Mercy on humans, by creating the perfect environment to live in, and His guidance throughout their life,
So look into yourself and nature around you, all created by Allah in perfect harmony for you.
You will see the signs of Allah, the ever-present, The Merciful. Allah knows best)
2- Marked the Quran ( Of His Mercy that even before creating humans, He established the Quran
The living manual, the guidance for the straight path that includes protection
commands of what to do and not to do, setting borders to protect humans against each other and preserve the environment and other creations. Allah knows best)
3- Created man (Of is Mercy, Then created the first human form and for the best for his environment, Adam which is an Arabic word for the surface of earth dust mixed with water runs in its blood i.e Adam is a descriptive name of what he was created from dust and water.)
4- Taught him expression
(Of His Mercy, taught him, the name of things, how to communicate, how to convey and receive feelings and thoughts, respond to his surroundings, and learn and pass on his teachings.
Taught him what is beneficial and what is harmful to him.
E.g. The trail of disobeying God the first sin, by following Satan who lured Adam and Eve out of paradise,
And also showed them His Mercy in accepting their repentance)
5- The sun and the moon in the precise calculation ( Of His Mercy, Setting precise movement of the visible sun and moon with no maintenance required for humans to calculate the measurements, values, times, days, months, years, deadlines, ages, create scientific, social, worship rules, etc.
Precisions that will also be reflected on Judgement Day).
6- And the stars and the trees prostrate. (The Stars in the sky and loose Seeds on the land, fall in prostration and obey the creator's rules with no deviation, as they have no freewill)
7- And the heavens raised and set the scale. (Of His Mercy, set an example, All the heavens and earth are obeying and functioning perfectly in complete equilibrium according to Allah’s set scale/rules)
8- Do not transgress in the scale.
( In resemblance, the heavens and earth are in harmony, so follow their suit, and do not transgress Allah’s rules, so that you live in harmony)
9- And establish measurement in justice and do not spoil the scale.
(Of His Mercy, created all the just environment and the just rules.
So follow it properly and do not spoil Allah’s just measurements,
so as not to spoil yourself and your surrounding
by following your whims, and desires)
10- And the land laid for the creatures. (Of His Mercy, established the rules set the scale, then laid the land, free for all his creation with no borders)
11- In it fruits and palms with sleaves. (Of His Mercy, made the land a source of a variety of sustenance fitting different needs and environments, for you to enjoy and prosperous)
12- And grains with husk and herbs (Grains, beans, green plants, and scented herbs, which also provide a variety of sustenance)
13- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
(Allah addressing mainly Humans,
So which of the
the aforementioned blessings do you deny?
From this verse 13 and on, humans and Jinn are addressed together,
as they are the only creatures with freedom of will to accept and deny God’s commands and blessings,
and accordingly accountable for their actions on judgment day
Also, an indication that The Quran and Mohamed’s PBUH prophethood is meant for both humans and Jinn, Allah knows best)
14- Created man (Adam) from dry clay like pottery.
( The Clay of the dry earth that its clanging is heard like pottery.
Of Allah's Mercy, He created the first human “Adam” from and for the best in his environment.
Adam is an Arabic word (A dem) that means the dust from the surface of the earth mixed with liquid, like water and blood
The name Adam is a descriptive name, that Allah gave his new human creation, of what he was created from, which is clay made of dry earth, and water)
15- And created The Jinn from interwind fire. (The mix of fire colors, The pure smokeless intense flame of the fire that swirls)
16- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
(Allah is pointing to both humans and Jinn, the only creatures with freedom of will.
Of Allah’s mercy and blessing, In the case of humans as aforementioned, Allah created Adam from clay as the best fit to interact with his environment and perform his duties,
So the Jinn from pure fire is the best fit to interact with his environment and perform his duties)
17- The God of both sunrise and both sunset (of His mercy, alternating sunrise and sunset for all on the to share in their befit)
18- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
19- Interflow the two seas to meet together. (The salty and freshwater seas)
20- Between them a barrier they do not transgress.
(Of His Mercy, the barrier of freshwater lighter density over salty water do not overpass, for evaporation and producing drinking water)
21- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
22- Comes from them pearls and corals.
(From them, comes pearls with various shades, and red coral stones e.g. River pearls and Mediterranean coral stones, Allah knows best)
23- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
24- And to Him, the sailing elevated in the sea like mountains.
(Elevated ships that run in the sea like mountains, landmarks, banners. Note year 600 CE when Quran was revealed the ships were small flotillas, also considering Mohamed PBUH had never been to the sea.
Of His Mercy pointing in the Qurans to visible signs to aid in believing, for people of reason )
25- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
26- Everything on it will perish. (On the earth and heavens)
27- And remain the face of your God, of Majesty and Generosity
(Only your God majestic generous self remains,
Of it Mercy and generosity will revive you for judgment day)
28- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
29- Ask Him whoever in the heavens and earth, every day He is in a matter
(Of His Mercy, God is omnipresent, hands-on, every time of the day for all in the heavens and earth)
30- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
31- We will vacate for you, you of weight
(Allah is addressing both Humans and Jinn, as they are the only creatures with freewill that requires hands-on assignment and weight of deeds for judgment day)
32- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
33- O tribes of Jinn and Humans, if you could penetrate from the radiuses of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate, you will not penetrate without authority.
(Authority permission from God, e.g., allowing scientific discovery to materialize )
34- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
35-Will send upon you a blaze of fire and brass, you will not be victorious.
(Warning not to miss use God’s authority, the jinn and humans will not be victorious)
36- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
37- And when the sky splits and becomes like rosy dermis. (The radiance color of the fat)
38- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
39- On that day, none will be asked of his sin of human and Jinn.
( That Judgment day all ends. Then judgment begins for Humans and Jinn)
40- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
41- Will be identified the criminals by their marks, and taken by their forelocks and feet.
(Criminals are identified by marks on their faces, then grabbed by their forelock that will be tied to their feet from behind their broken back)
42- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
43- This is Ghanem which the criminals deny.
(It is said in contempt to the criminals who denied Resurrection Day, this Hellfire that you denied)
44- They will go around between it and a present scalding drink.
(Sometimes they are tortured in hell, and sometimes they are watered from the ultimate boiling drink, it is a drink that is like molten copper that cuts the intestines and guts)
45- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
46- And for those who feared their God’s standing two gardens.
(He who feared standing in front of his God for judgment, so he fulfilled the obligations of God and avoided His prohibitions)
47- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
48- Having branches
(Gardens with branches, bearing from every ripe fruit)
49- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
50- In them, running springs.
(In each its spring)
51- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
52-In them of every fruit a pair
53- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
54-Reclining on couches lined with brocade, and the reaping of the gardens is near.
(An example of the furniture lining is made of brocade silk, so what about the outer cover of the furniture it will be an indescribable luxury, and the fruits of the gardens conveniently within hand reach)
55- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
56- In them, that limited glance, untouched by a human before nor a Jinn.
(For people who feared God’s standing, two gardens in them untouched before by humans or Jinn maidens who limit their glance to only what Allah allowed)
57- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
58- As if they are sapphires and corals.
(Maidens of sapphire’s vivid purity and in the whiteness of coral)
59- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
60- Is the reward of beneficence except for beneficence?
(It is God’s Justice to reward good by nothing less than good)
61- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
62- And beneath them two gardens. (of a lower grade)
63- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
64- Dark green (Deep blackish green)
65- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
66- In them (lower grade garden) two spouting springs
67- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
68- In them fruits and palms and pomegranates.
69- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
70- In them beautiful benevolence.
71- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
72- Houris castled in tents.
(faire ones reserved in castle-like tents, Allah knows best)
73- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
74- Untouched by a human before nor a Jinn.
75- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
76- Reclining on green brilliantly beautiful cushions.
77- So, of which of the blessings of your God, do you deny?
78- Blessed is your God’s name of Majesty and Generosity
